Blisma StopFog Gel is helping workers stay safe during the pandemic.

The wearing of masks causes glasses to fog up.

As most of the country wears masks during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, one of the common (and annoying) side effects is the fogging up of glasses and other eyewear. This fogging occurs as warm air escapes through the gaps on either side of the nose, coming into contact with the cooler lenses and causing condensation. Small water particles build up on the lens as a result, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of harm to the person and others.

Workers have no choice but to wear PPE.

The issue of eyewear fogging has long been a problem in the industrial environment, where workers have a requirement to wear both respirators and safety glasses, as mandatory PPE to do their job tasks. This is particularly prevalent in colder climates where the temperature difference of the expelled air and the outside is greater. Many PPE manufacturers have developed anti-fog lens coatings to combat this issue, however very few work effectively and are significantly more expensive than non coated alternatives. In addition, these safety glasses do not assist workers requiring prescription lenses.

What anti-fog solution is available to eliminate eyewear fogging?

To solve the fogging issue, as well as cater for all workers using any type of eyewear, Blisma has developed StopFog Gel. This small tube comes complete with a built in applicator brush to easily apply and spread, as well as a microfiber cloth to buff and polish the lens. Once applied, a transparent film forms over the lens, which prevents water droplets forming on the lens, therefore eliminating fogging. This unique gel is vastly superior in performance and ease of application, compared to traditional sprays, wipes and wax alternatives available in the market.

How has Blisma StopFog helped?

Since the StopFog Gel product became available in the December of 2020, customers have been excited about finally having a solution to their fogging problems, that works. Some industrial companies have made StopFog Gel part of their personnel issue, plus provided access via PPE vending machines on the work site. As one safety manager has put it, "we have tried a number of different products to eliminate the fogging of our safety glasses, but none work as well as the StopFog Gel".

So in conclusion, Blisma StopFog Gel has increased the visibility and safety for people wearing both masks and glasses during the pandemic. Whether they are at work, out shopping or enjoying family time in public places, this handy little tube is fast becoming a must have in everyday lives. Try it out for yourself!

Graffiti Around the World

Recently, I traveled to Asia to tour the factories of one of our vendors.  It was an exciting trip, and well worth the time and effort.  Meeting with this particular vendor was educational as well as rewarding, and meeting them in person really brought us together.

For the first time, I saw graffiti in a country other than the US, Mexico, and Canada.  As you can see from the pictures, graffiti is a worldwide problem.

Shadowing

11/18/2016

A customer that had been using a graffiti remover purchased from a large retail store recently contacted Snagwolf.  After multiple applications of the retail graffiti remover, there was a shadow that remained on the front columns of a concrete building.  The retail product did not have strong enough active ingredients to penetrate and remove the shadowing.  The customer then used SnagWolf’s Safety Two Graffiti Remover.  In one application, the shadow was faded.  After the second application, the shadow was undetectable.

As much as we would like to say we have these kinds of results every time, the reality is that each application (and base material) is different. Using an industrial strength product, like Safety Two Graffiti Remover, will give you the best chance of removing shadowing.

More About Shadowing…
When cleaning the surface of base material there can remain a faint representation of the original graffiti. This is called shadowing.  Graffiti works its way into the pores of the base material. In most cases, shadowing can be removed by taking additional steps like soaking and agitating, using a pressure washer and in extreme cases heating up the base material before applying a graffiti remover. The more porous the material, the more opportunity there is for shadowing.  If a porous base material is tagged when the base material is warm, there tends to be a better chance for shadowing to occur.

This shadow was left when a home center graffiti remover was used to remove a tag on a porous concrete column.  After applying Safety Two Graffiti Remover, the shadow was completely removed.

Right Intention... Wrong Product

9/12/2016

From time to time, we run across things we feel are worth noting and sharing with our customers.

Some think removing graffiti is as simple as removing paint like one might do in restoring a piece of furniture.  When using a paint stripper, paint remover or naval jelly, the goal is to completely remove the paint from the base material.  These types of products differ from a true graffiti remover in the fact that graffiti removers are designed to remove the unwanted outer layer of spray paint or marker while leaving as much, if not all, of the base coating intact.

An aerosol can of paint remover from a big box store was used for the application shown in the picture.  It did remove some of the graffiti.  However, the graffiti was not fully removed on the first attempt, so the product was applied a second time and left to sit for a few minutes.  When the user tried to wipe away the graffiti, the paint remover had penetrated through and lifted the original paint as well.  Yikes!
When the maintenance staff stood back and looked at the completed job, they probably said the same word the tagger used... “S***!”

Here's what can happen when the wrong product is used.  Ouch!
